An updated on Ufi
As I have mentioned before, Ufi has been battling bad allergies for years. For about the last two years, it seemed like we had found a reasonable treatment. He was never what I would classify a hundred percent, but he was much better than he had been.
Recently, his ear infections have been more common. His energy level was decreasing. He was itching more. He just wasn’t quite the Ufi we love so much.
After consulting with our vet, I decided to try steroids again. This time, he’s getting an oral steroid. The hope is that by giving him an oral steroid, rather than an injection, Ufi won’t have as great a chance of getting bad side affects.
Obviously, we want him feeling better. But I know of the long-term damage steroids can do the kidneys and liver. So far, Ufi’s organs are fine. Still, I feel like I’m having to choos between quality of life and longevity. It’s been kind of a sad week for me.
My Battle with Insomnia
I’m still clearly losing the fight. Between worrying about Ufi, working through some important, stressful things at work, and dealing with some heartburn, I have lost the battle just about every night this week.
I will say I have gotten a little better at not letting frustration getting the better of me when I wake up way too early. Instead of checking my phone to begin the process of quitting, I have been able to stay in bed and try to sleep. Twice I actually got a little more rest. It’s a small victory.
Online Dating
I’m taking a break from online dating. I realized I have to give the battle with insomnia as much attention as I have to give. Also, I know the next couple of weeks are going to be busy at work. I don’t have the capacity to deal with online dating right now. I’m kind of disappointed in myself for that. I do want to date. But that’s how I honestly feel right now.
A few Other Items
- I exercised three times this work week. That’s an improvement over the last two.
- I hope I’m making as much progress on a couple of things at work that I believe I’m making.
- I finished Bob Woodward’s Book on Trump. I’ll write a review tomorrow.
The End of Summer
It looks like summer is over here. It ended so abruptly. I love the summer. I’m not looking forward to winter. But I have a feeling we’re going to have a rainy winter.

As for summer over well, I’m not ready for it to end. I have lots to do b4 winter. If it doesn’t stop raining I won’t get any of the fall things done.
I think it helped a little. I did fall asleep. I am up to early though.
